“There are eight million stories in the Naked City. This has been one of them.” – The Naked City
Gotham Chronicles picks up where Jules Dassin’s 1948 film leaves off, one story at a time. In the spirit of Weegee, this blog lets the city and it’s inhabitants tell their own tales, with the lens being through the eyes of an overnight cabdriver. From the Battery to the Bronx, the airport to the waterfront, the 5 Boroughs serve as a backdrop for the cast of characters that inhabit the greatest city in the world. Many of these people pass through Taxicabs and it’s through this page that their stories will be told.
At the same time, this blog will put some common stereotypes to rest. Not all cabdrivers are immigrants with a beef against the world. Yours truly brings a college degree, 30 years of calling the tri-state area home, and a deep and passionate knowledge of the Big Apple to the table. If you believe that life is more about the journey than the destination, then Gotham Chronicles is your window to the world’s most fascinating narrative on the world’s biggest stage.
